The following prestigious awards conferred at the Annual Convention are in two categories

NOTE : This year the FHRAI Awards 2010 Ceremony will be held during the 45th FHRAI Annual Convention being held from 27th ,28th and 29th August, 2010 Agra. The Award Function is scheduled to be held on Saturday 28th August, 2010. The Awards will be given away by Shri Sultan Ahmed, Honble Minister of State for Tourism, Government of India.

Criteria for Selection:

Entrepreneur Awards

  1. Applicant must be in the age group 30-45 years.
  2. Must be a first generation entrepreneur. Normally persons in an inherited business will not be considered unless it is proved that the applicant has substantially transformed and expanded it.
  3. The person must be actively involved in running the hotel/restaurant business.
  4. Not just the achievement for the relevant financial year but cumulative achievements leading upto the year are considered. Any special achievement or significant business development during the year will be a plus point.
  5. Applicant must give all the facts of the business including number and nature of units, milestone achievements, financial numbers etc. Audited balance sheet, P&L statement for the last 3 years including the relevant year must be submitted.
  6. In case of restaurant entrepreneur, he/she must be involved in a stand alone restaurant or a chain of such restaurants and not a hotel restaurant.
  7. Applicant’s establishment, or at least one of the many, must be a member of FHRAI.
  8. Applicant may submit the application giving the facts and figures on the above lines. There is no need to get it recommended from anyone.

Manager Awards

  1. Must be in age group 25-34 yrs.
  2. Must have worked in the hospitality industry for minimum of 5 years
  3. Must have had a formal education in hospitality management or an allied field.
  4. Must have made a significant achievement during the year for financial performance, concept development, business development, successful completion of a project etc.
  5. The award will depend on performance during the relevant financial year. However, the cumulative performance and developme nt of the professional profile over a period of years will be a material factor to decide on the award.
  6. In case of a restaurant manager, he/she can be from a hotel restaurant or a stand alone restaurant. Chefs, F&B and Banquet Managers will need to apply in the category of the hotel manager.
  7. Applicant must be working in a FHRAI member establishment.
  8. Applicants must submit an application listing out the facts on the above points and special achievement(s) during the year. It must be recommended by the head of the organisation/ property who must support the facts and special achievement(s). In the case of chains it can be the General Manager of the hotel / restaurant and need not be the MD of the company.

Environmental Awards

FHRAI encourages and promotes environmentally sound practices in the Industry. In recognition of the industry's commitment to environmental concerns, FHRAI presents Environmental Awards in six categories every year, with a winner and runner up in each category.

Environment Champion of the Year among Large Hotels (Click for Form Download)

(Applicable to only Standalone Restaurants)

Criteria for Selection

The application form in each category has a questionnaire and applicants are judged by the Selection Committee on that basis. Applicant should have done some significant work in these areas, especially in the current financial year. The application has questions under the following heads:

  1. Energy management
  2. Water conservation
  3. Waste water treatment and disposal
  4. Solid waste disposal.
  5. Use of hazardous chemicals and non-biodegradable products
  6. Air pollution and internal air quality
  7. Noise pollution
  8. Eco-friendly purchase policies
  9. Training and monitoring
  10. Communications to guests and others
  11. Community service and involvement

General Information

  1. A shortlist of applicants may be interviewed by the Selection Committee or its representatives. Travel expenses, if any, of the applicants for the interview will be borne by the applicant or the company. However, travel expenses for the winners and runners up for coming to the Annual Convention to receive the award will be borne by the Federation. They will also be given complimentary registration for themselves and spouses for attending the Convention.

  2. The Selection Committee for the above awards consists of all the following office bearers of FHRAI:
    President, the three Vice- Presidents,Hony. Secretary, Hony. Treasurer
    and Secretary General

There is a winner and runner up in the Manager categories

There is only a winner in the Entrepreneur category

The awardees are given a shield in a ceremony during the FHRAI Annual Convention. News, photographs and personal profile of the winners and runners up are publicised widely through FHRAI Magazine and other trade publications including international media. Awardees can attend the Professional Development Programmes of FHRAI free of participation fees for one year. They will also be given an attractive citation signed by President FHRAI.
