Hotel Tourism related services included in SEPC

The Director General of Foreign Trade, via a notification, has included hotel and tourism related services as the 14th service under the Services .Export Promotion Council(SEPC). Till now, applications to DGFT for issue of import license required the applicant to be a member of FIEO. However FIEO membership did not give tangible benefits to the members as the organisation did not take up issues regarding the hotel and tourism sector with the government. The lobbying efforts of FHRAI has brought about this development. The hotel and tourism sector will now be able to avail benefits that the Government plans to confer on sectors regarding foreign exchange. Now, membership of FIEO will be changed to membership of SEPC as a requirement for applications made to DGFT for issue of import license by hotels and tourism related service providers.
