SUB: FSSAI REMOVES VALIDITY PERIOD FROM FOOD SAFETY SUPERVISOR CERTIFICATE

Dear Member,

We wish to inform you that the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) vide its office memorandum dated 21st July 2022, has decided to remove the limited validity period (2 years) from the Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) Certificate and the FSS Certificate will become Perpetual for all food handlers whose Kind of Business (KoB) hasn’t changed. However, if there is a change in the KoB, a food handler will have to undergo a fresh FoSTaC training  and obtain a new FSS Certificate related to his current KoB.

Please find attached the copy of the FSSAI Memorandum for your kind reference.

Also, please be informed that the food handlers holding FSS Certificate would be required to undergo refresher training if there is any change in the Schedule 4 of Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations 2011. It is pertinent to mention that Schedule 4 of the aforesaid Regulation deals with Food Safety Management System (FSMS). 

Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) is an initiative by FSSAI to conduct trainings for target groups in the food business to maximize knowledge and awareness of food safety regulations and policies to ensure food safety and hygiene. The Food Safety training under FoSTaC intends to create a pool of food safety supervisors, who are trained in good hygiene and manufacturing practices as required by Schedule 4 of Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations 2011.
