SUB: FSSAI EXTENDS TIMELINE FOR MANDATORY COMPLIANCE RELATED TO VEGAN FOOD LOGO TILL JANUARY 2023 & FSSAI ORDER REGARDING GST APPLICABLE ON PAYMENTS TO FSSAI 

Dear Member,

We wish to apprise you about the following two updates with regard to Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

1.       On 27th July 2022, vide order no. STD/SP/-18/T (Vegan Foods) FSSAI has extended the timeline for the mandatory compliance of the ‘Food Safety and Standards (Vegan Food) Regulations by Six months up to 26th January 2023.

It is pertinent to mention that FSSAI, vide  Gazette Notification on 10th June 2022, had notified FSS (Vegan Food) Regulations 2022, requiring the Food Business Operators (FBOs), dealing with Vegan Foods, to submit application to concerned licensing authorities in specified format. The notification also mentioned that FSSAI may specify Guidelines for approval of Vegan Logos. These Guidelines were notified on 25th July 2022.

2.       On 27th July 2022, vide order no. RCD-01001/7/2021-Regulatory-FSSAI Part 1, FSSAI has notified that 18% GST will be applicable on all payments made through FoSCoS and other portals of FSSAI towards Registration/License Fee, Penalty and Permissions.
