SUB: AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ON BAN ON SINGLE USE PLASTIC
 
Dear Member,

As you are aware that the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, has notified the Plastic Waste Management Amendments Rules, 2021, prohibiting manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale and use of the identified single use plastic items, which have low utility and high littering potential, with effect from the 1st July 2022.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India has initiated a campaign to spread awareness among the public and stakeholders on this subject and also launched a Mascot, called 'PRAKRITI' to spread the message of environmental protection. Some info materials on alternatives, banned items-sensitization, steps to reduce plastics usage along with banners and animation videos are available on the website of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change - https://moef.gov.in/en/awareness-material-for-ban-on-single-use-plastic/introduction/.

Please find enclosed a copy of the office memorandum received from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India on the subject mentioned above, for your kind information and necessary action.
